The Altar Servers assist the priests at Mass. To be an altar server, you must have received First Communion and are required to attend training. Altar Servers are typically scheduled to minister at Mass once or twice a month. To learn more, contact Anne Boyce at 475-2285.
Baptism Preparation Program
In order to have your child baptized at St. Francis de Sales, you must attend a Baptismal Preparation Class. The purpose of the session is to help the family better understand the meaning of Baptism, as well as the different signs and symbols used in the Baptismal Rite. Emphasis is made on welcoming families and encouraging them to be part of parish life. You must first meet with our Pastoral Associate, Anne Boyce (475-2285) to arrange a Baptism in English. To arrange a Baptism in Spanish, contact must be made with Deacon Francisco Diaz-Granados (286-4641). A copy of your child's birth certificate will need to be presented. Baptisms in Spanish take place on the first Sunday of each month. Baptisms in English are celebrated on the second and third Sundays of each month.
C.Y.O. Sports Program:
St. Francis de Sales has a vibrant Catholic Youth Organization Basketball program for boys and girls from 4 th grade through 8 th. Contact Pat O'Connell at 758-2678 for more information.
Eucharistic Ministers & Lectors
A Eucharistic Minister administers Holy Communion and the Blood of Christ during Mass while a Lector proclaims the Scripture readings. To become a Eucharistic Minister or a Lector, you must attend a four hour training session conducted by the Diocese and then attend a session at the parish level. Call Anne Boyce (475-2285) for more
Members of the Finance Committee are appointed lay men and women who oversee the finances of the parish. The committee may assist in budget proposals as well as spending recommendations. If you have strengths in this area, contact Donna McBride at 475-0161
Marriage Preparation Program
The purpose of Pre-Cana is to help engaged couples prepare for the sacrament of Matrimony. Participants will meet with married couples from our Parish who will conduct the sessions. Engaged couples must attend two meetings in the church and four meetings in one of the married couples' homes. The Pre-Cana program is offered two times a year. Deacon Marty McIndoe is the chaplain. Participants will be requested to meet with a priest or deacon before attending the in-home, Pre-Cana program. Please note that all couples must attend some form of marriage preparation program before being married in the Church.
Ministry of Consolation
This ministry provides assistance to parish families when a loved one has passed. The ministry provides planning and guidance for funeral liturgies as well as support for the family. To obtain more information, please contact Anne Boyce at 475-2285.
Music is an integral part of all liturgies. As stated in the Instruction on Music in the Liturgy (1967) #16, "One cannot find anything more religious and more joyful in sacred celebrations than a whole congregation expressing its faith and devotion in song." This quote reflects our goal at St. Francis de Sales. We have cantors, musicians and choirs who lead the community in song.
This ministry's purpose is to provide assistance to the community. Volunteers staff a food pantry and help in meeting emergency bill paying (rent, utilities, prescriptions, etc.). The program, directed by Gina Crawford. Its Food Pantry is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:OO A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and from 1:00 P.M. to 3:OO P.M. in the Parish Center (South entrance). Friday afternoons cliants are seen by appointment. Catholic Charities supports Outreach by providing information about immigration and citizenship applications. For more details click here.
Members of the Pastoral Council assist and foster the process of pastoral planning in light of the parish mission and vision. It is a committee of 16 parishioners which meets once a month. If you are interested in becoming a member, contact Donna McBride at 475-0161.
Faith Formation should be an integral part of every child's life. St. Francis de Sales parish offers children in grades one through eight an opportunity to participate in Religious Education. Children will learn about Catholicism and work toward receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. Registration typically takes place in April for classes in the fall. Classes are scheduled either Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm to 6:15pm, or on Sunday from 9:15am to 10:30am in Holy Angels School. Contact Elaine Heschl at 289-4339 for further information.
RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The RCIA offers adults who have either not been baptized or who are of another faith to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church by receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. We welcome anyone who is inquiring about the process for yourself or someone you know. Also invited to contact us are those interested in becoming part of the "Team".
